Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. ~Albert Einstein
Manageable Insanity for Me
Learning how to bake a delectable brownie
Training for another trail half marathon
Practicing scales with my voice
Keeping home tidy and organized
Dating at end of this year 2010
Mastering computer skills
My slight change of direction last week has improved my run/fast walk time for trail running. I went out on several generic get to know you “dates”; walk and talk, coffee or first drinks in the last 84 hours…oh my, some were truly not the even close to being my Mr. Right One….Yikes! To the man who posted younger pictures of himself, I know you did NOT turn grey overnight, get some accurate photos, geez.
If any actions are not working for you, i.e. you are not getting the desired results, it is important to keep trying and fine-tuning and make more attempts. Temporary insanity is permitted to offer you clues as to how to get closer to your goal(s). You are precious, remember never give up, and please keep gently modifying your skills.
My goals include: Increase trail distance and hill repeats, practice my vocalized scales by varying vowel shape, breath rhythm, and intonation, purchase darker chocolate, keep dating horizon open, allow myself to fail and pick myself up, dust myself off and try – try – do.
Please be willing to open your daily actions to repetitiveness to gain new skills and accomplish tasks that will lead you to fulfillment. It is a challenge. I can not think of one basic life skill I mastered on the first attempt. As adults we tend to lack patience with ourselves, we think if I can’t do it then it wasn’t meant to be. This is an unreasonable expectation. Ask for help, others want you to be able to create joy in your life by reaching your goals. As a small child we are encouraged to sit, stand, toddle, walk, run, ride a bike, use a spoon, fork, knife, chopsticks, crayons, pencils, paintbrushes and reminded often to say please and thank you.
Think of all the tiny little tasks you do accomplish each day. You get out of bed, make the bed (okay, perhaps not this morning), have breakfast, shower, dress, drive to jobs or take children to school, laundry, cleaning, reading, watch TV….the list goes on and on of what you can do. If you want to learn something new, reach out and be willing to go a bit insane repeating tiny tasks until you reach your goal.
